I have finished my reading goal, and actually passed my goal, which was 1800 pages, and ending up with 2516 pages! The last book I read, was another one the Kingdom Keepers series, the 3rd one, called Disney At Dawn, with 576 pages. This adventure begins when Wayne – the head guy and the one who brought the Kingdom Keepers together – has gone missing. The kids suspect that the Overtaker – all the evil Disney villains that are trying to take over the Disney parks – have captured him. But Wayne has left clues. Will they be enough for the kids to find him in time? I found the answer when finishing the book, but I don’t want to spoil it for you. So read it!

I liked this book, though it started out slow and long, it did get very interesting, and I think it was worth the read. I liked this adventurous and mysterious book a lot, though it is not my favorite. I recommend this book to anyone that love she Disney parks, and also to those who are fans of adventure and mystery. I would give this book a 9 out of 10, and I am pretty glad that I read it.

Recently, I read an awesome book called The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins. And let me say by far, it is one of the best books I have ever read. Actually, I couldn’t stop reading it, staying up at night and just even reading a little in math. But I finished it in 2 days, and CANNOT wait to get the next one in the series, called Catching Fire. The only problem is that the books are so popular and so good that I will probably have to wait a while, which will not be fun for me.

Anyway, if you haven’t read it, I really advise you to. No wait, I’m telling you to go and read this awesome book! It is about a young girl in a society that is in what used to be known as North America. These books are set to the future, if you will. The society is called Panem, and it is unlike anything we have seen in our lifetime. The Capital is cruel and harsh, keeping the 12 districts in line by forcing them to send 1 girl and 1 boy every year to the Capital, to participate in the Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live T.V. A 16-year old girl, Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and sister after her father’s death in a coal mine explosion, is selected to participate. Actually, she volunteers in place of her sister, who was really selected, but whom she can’t bear to let into the dreadful Hunger Games. The challenge really hits Katniss, when, in the Games, if she wants to win, she must face the decision between life and love.

This book if fantastic beyond words. So read it! Most people I know say they loved it. And I did too. I recommend it for those that like thrilling science fiction with adventure, a twist of love, and even a touch of graphic parts. It’s a lot, but it was worth the 374pages, I will tell you that. I would give it 10 out of 10, even more. So read!

325 pages of adventure, mystery, love, and horse. That is one way of many to describe Diane Lee Wilson’s book, called Firehorse. You should be able to tell all ready (it’s ok if you can’t ) that I am in love with this book! I think the theme of this book would be to be true to yourself, and stand up for what you think is right. This book is about a fifteen year old girl, named Rachel, who is a horse lover, and owner of a horse named Peaches. The two, horse and girl, have a strong bond. Rachel loves to go out galloping and just be free. But her life is changed when her father tells the family they must move to Boston. Rachel’s grandmother comes along as well. Once in Boston, Rachel tries to find some way to fit in, but she can’t forget her horse life and the feeling of freedom. But one horse, called the Girl, needs her help badly when a large fire strikes at the fire station. The Girl, being one of the firehorses is badly burned, and Rachel takes the chance to take her under her care, despite her strict father’s rules that girls shouldn’t do ‘man’s work’. But Rachel goes farther. When meeting a veterinarian, the best one in Boston, she is intrigued to become a veterinarian herself, even though she is a girl. There are more fires, and worse, an outbreak of Distemper is going around, and Rachel has the chance to finally prove herself. I really enjoyed this book, and most definitely recommend it to all those horse lovers out there. I was sad when the book ended, but so glad that I read it.

Last night, I just finished reading the second book of the Kingdom Keepers series, called Disney at Dawn, by Ridley Pearson. If you don’t already know, this series is about 5 kids that were selected to be ‘Kingdom Keepers’, or protectors of the Disney parks in Florida. What is the park being protected from? All the Disney villains. Every time the kids fall asleep, they find themselves in Disney World. In the second book, the 5 kids, Finn, Maybeck, Philby, Willa and Charlene are called to the Animal Kingdom, because Maleficent, the evil witch from Sleeping Beauty is trying to take over the park. And what’s worse, Jez, Amanda’s sister, who are both friends of the Kingdom Keepers, goes missing. The kids find that Maleficent has captured her, and they sneak out of their homes to go to Animal Kingdom during the day, in order to free Jez, and stop the evil Maleficent.

I do like this series, though at first I will admit I was bored with it, and wanted to put it down. But I’m glad I didn’t. Although this is not the best book I have ever read, I would give it a fair 8 out of 10, and I do want to read the next one in the series. I would recommend this book to Disney lovers, as well as kids who like a bit of adventure.

I just finished a book called Ghost Hunter, which is the last of the series The Chronicles of Ancient Darkness, by Michelle Paver. And I hope she writes mor books int he series, because i absolutely LOVED IT! This one, in particular is one of the best in my opinion. In the final chapter of Torak, a young boy, and his destiny to destroy the evil soul eaters, and fulfill a promise made to his father before he died, more and more secrets are unwound, and Torak almost dies. The tension and thrill of this book is what kept me in it, as well as the writing, the characters, and well, everything else about the book. I could never put it down! Ever! Torak and Renn, and RavenClan girl, become closer in friendship, as they work together to destroy Eostra, the final and worst of the Soul Eaters, which leads them to the Mountain of Ghosts.

Like I said above, I loved this book and the series. This is a praise for Michelle Paver! I really hope she writes more to this series! I would give this book a 10 out of 10, and would most certainly recommend it to anyone who likes a thrill read, and an exciting, fast paced adventure book, though I advise people NOT to read it before bed, because it gave my sister a nightmare. It does sound kind of dark, but it’s really not that bad, just give it a try. Don’t judge a book by its cover and, what the hay, get your geek on, and read!

The book that I just read is a VERY good one, though at first I thought I wouldn’t like it. But I am so glad I kept reading it. This book is called The Hero and the Crown, by Robin McKinley. The book is about a young girl, named Aerin, who lives in her father’s kingdom of Damar. She is different from all others, because her mother was a witch from the North, which is feared by all Damrians. Most of her life, Aerin hides away, and doesn’t let herself be seen much, besides by the eyes of her father, best friend Tor, and maid Teka, and a horse Talat. She sneaks out to train the injured horse, and he becomes hers to ride. For her 18th birthday, Tor brings her a sword, with which she finds a very good use for – killing dragons. The little dragons are more like pests in Damar, but can still be deadly. After trying for years, she finally gets the right recipe for kenet, a fire-proof ointment, she goes to kill the dragons. But there is one more dragon that is even more deadly, called Maur. On top of Maur’s deadly awakening, the Hero’s Crown is missing, and it is the most valuable, and secret strength of Damar.

I really like this book, and though it is not my favorite book I have ever read, wow am I glad I read it, because it kept me mostly intrigued the whole time. The writing was well written, though in some parts I didn’t want certain things to happen. If I were to rate this book from 1 – 10, I would give it an 8. But over all, I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read about fantasy with dragons and dragon slaying, as well as adventure.

Another 9 weeks of school has started which means another Reading Challenge for me! I set the goal a bit higher this time, aiming for 1600. We’ll see how I do.

Anyway, I started out with a book called Fairest, by Gail Carson Levine. I really like the book, a total of 326 pages. The book is about a young and ugly girl in a world of prettier people and beautiful voices. Though she is ugly, she has the most beautiful voice. She works at her father’s inn and usually hides from the public, that is until she learns how to ‘illuse’ or make her voice come form different places. She also is invited to the King’s wedding, and upon arrival, she turns over a new leaf and finds a big adventure, a bit of love, and her real ancestors. I like this book because I think the author did a nice job, making it flow and not seem too confusing at all. This book might have inspired me to sing more in the shower….but sometimes I do that already. Anyway, I would give this book a 9 out of 10. Great job Miss Levine! I would recommend this book more to girls, because it holds more girl interests. I was definitely glad I read this book!

The last book I read was another of the Maximum Ride series, called Max, by James Patterson. In this book, Max and her flock finally have freedom of evil scientists and Erasers. But that freedom doesn’t last. Max is captured and escaped from a man named Mr. Chu, another evil scientist. Mr. Chu also captures Max’s mom, who Max immediately plans to save. It turns out, Max’s mom is being held in the ocean’s depths – where mysterious sea monsters are also dwelling…

I was fascinated by this book. I believe this is my favorite book ever! It is the most thrilling in the Maximum Ride series, in my opinion. Great job Mr. Patterson! This book is for early teens or people who love to read mystery, adventure, action, and a hint of romance and tension. I think that James Patterson achieved his purpose. He created an awesome book that kept me reading until the end! My overall response to this book was that it was very moving and inspiring. I recommend this book, because it is action packed, with a bit of drama. And everyone loves a little drama right? Read on.

The fourth book of the Maximum Ride series has intense suspense! In this book, James Patterson has done a great job, once again! Max and Fang have brought the flock together again, and the six human avian-hybrids have found someone new to be an enemy with – known as the Urber Directer. He is pretty freaky, I must say, consisting of many clear, Plexiglas boxes holding organs. Repulsive, I know. Along with some more ‘magic’ between Max and Fang, Patterson, Max’s voice is still mysteriously telling her where to go, and leading her places she wouldn’t even have thought of going to. She found that she does actually have a mom – who she can now trust and count on.

Read it!- You know you want to...

There are many more details that I could tell you, but I think you want to find those yourself. So read this book, along with the rest of the series! I love how James Patterson creates a tale that I am glued to every second! His writing is effective and moving, and I truly love it. My overall response to the book was that it was very inspiring. Many times I have caught myself pretending that I have wings myself. Coasting on my bike is not nearly as thrilling as actually flying, but it works for me. I would read this book if I were you, because it is thrilling, adventurous, and exciting. You will never out it down (until you finish it)!
