No More Research

No more research- this year!

No more research- this year!

I’m so sad!!! Research is over. We only had it for the second nine weeks, weeks that went by so so fast! We wrote a whole entire persuasive speech in just nine weeks! But I owe it to Mrs. Plantan. Without her, I might still be working on my speech! I remember practicing typing for fifteen minutes every day, which really made the difference. My typing has improved so much! I definitely owe it to Mrs. Plantan! (My teacher)

I will really really miss Research class! But hey, P.E. nice too! This is definitely going to be a lot more fun to uncover this sixth-grade year!

A Reflection On My Research Class

Using books, computers, paper...

Using books, computers, paper...

In research class this year, I have discovered many things. Fun things. Like what? Research isn’t fun! Well, some might say that, but not one of them is me! Typing. Ah yes, my typing. No, it’s not that good at any rate. Yet with practice every day for fifteen minutes, I have gained a lot of skill in typing. And Mrs. Plantan, my research teacher makes it very fun to learn! She introduced a typing website just for beginners. It helped me a lot, and I’m glad she told us about it. I think it helps beginners especially, because, like one of my classmates said, “…there’s too much going on in the screen for you to look down!”

Not just the typing, but the researching as well, I think is fun. When we had to write persuasive essays, we sure had to do a lot of research. Then we had to organize, plan, finally “sculpt” our essays. “We have to do all that stuff before we can write the thing?” I had thought the day she announced it. But Mrs. Plantan made it more enjoyable. She made it better by breaking down the steps. Now, after Mrs. Plantan’s treatment, I have grown to like research a lot more, I think!

Also, I learned that anything you don’t like, try to make a “game” out of it. For example, I was trying to find some information on “smoking bans”, and was having trouble. So I made finding just the fact I need into a little “game show”. Now, I Don’t mean just playing made up games in stead of doing your work, but just making the task a little more fun and making it seem easier.

I’m sure I’ll learn many more things by the end of research, many more fun, interesting facts when I research about an animal, or country,or even the sun! For me, research is one of my best classes, and I am certainly glad I’m in it!
